NEWS-SUN STAFF REPORT

The Hobbs tennis team took fourth in the Monahans Invitational over the weekend. Hobbs finished with 96 points, seven points behind first-place Monahans (104). Trinity Christian took second (103) and Pecos finished third (101). Greenwood (79), Seminole (70) and Kermit (25) finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. What made Hobbs’ performance more impressive was that it didn’t field a full team over the weekend. “I thought the team performed well this weekend,” Hobbs coach Travis Eggleton said. “We were not able to field two mixed doubles teams this weekend, so to come out with as many points as we did was very good.” Hobbs’ Amber Seay finished first in girls singles. The duo of Marisol Ramirez and Darien Pruitt took second in girls doubles. Jeremy Plachek finished third in boys singles while the duo of Ronnie Montgomery and Bryan Loflin snagged third in boys doubles.
