HOBBS HIGH SCHOOL EAGLES

The Hobbs softball team swept Goddard in a doubleheader, 13-4 and 18-12, Monday in Roswell. Evelyn Duarte pitched a complete game for Hobbs (5-2) in the first contest, giving up four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. Offensively, Summer Martinez was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Duarte was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Jessica Gibson was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. In the second game, Jacey Moyers got the win, going the distance and giving up 12 runs – six earned – on 12 hits with three strikeouts and seven walks. Alex Fuentes went 3-for-6 with an insidethe-park grand slam. Duarte went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, Bailey Martin went 2-for-2 with two triples and four RBIs while Hannah Jones went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. In the junior varsity games, Hobbs also won both – 26-0 and 16-1. Kenzie Savell got the win in game one, giving up one hit and striking out six. Maci Methola went 3-for-4 with five runs, Katelyn Raulston went 2-for-3 with four runs and Savell went 3-for-5 with two runs. K’Lee Kent got the win in game two, giving up three hits and striking out six. Ciara Gregrory went 3-for-4 with two runs.
